The Story of Burnt Njal is one of the Icelandic Sagas - and probably the most famous one. It tells the story of people who lived in Iceland and the Nordic countries more than 1000 years ago. The story, which takes place in Southern Iceland, near Hvolsvöllur, was written in the thirteenth century. Nobody really knows who the author of Njal's saga is, as no records indicate the author. Many have tried to identify the author and come up with suggestions, but no consensus has been about any of them. The story is a mixture of facts and fantasy – where love, hatred, honor, friendship and power struggle influence the actions of the main characters.
